eSIMs are gaining traction—especially as newer smartphones drop the physical SIM tray—but they’re still not mainstream for a few reasons.

The main barrier is the learning curve. Many users are more familiar with swapping physical SIM cards and may find eSIM setup less intuitive at first. Also, not all devices or carriers support eSIMs yet, which slows wider adoption.

That said, as more phones and networks embrace the technology, eSIMs are quickly becoming the future of mobile connectivity.
